New Public Access Defibrillator in Southchurch Park

On Sunday 4th December 2022, we officially opened the public access defibrillator that has been placed on the pavilion at Southend on Sea and EMT Cricket Club in Southchurch Park.

The facility is in memory of the late John Wilding, father of our supporter Julia Wilding.

Julia fundraised and personally donated the majority of the funds required to establish this facility which will make the park a safer place for it’s users.

We would like to thank Julia, The Cricket Club, Southend Council, James Duddridge MP and SADS UK for their help in bringing this project to conclusion.

Thank you to Alexander House Trade Union Branch

On Saturday 10th Dec 2022 we were delighted to receive a donation of £425 from Kerry Fairless of the former Southend based Alexander House Trade Union Branch.

Kerry said ” The closure of Alexander House in Southend ends 50 years of Customer’s presence. Our branch prided itself om protecting workers and playing a positive role in the community.

Over the years we’d raised a considerable amount for our campaign fund are are delighted to donate what is left to the Finish Line Fund. We lost our own, beloved President, Mike Lightfoot to a sudden heart attack a few years back and Nick Palmer’s mother Linda, was a member of the branch for many years.

The Finish Line Fund is there to sae lives and if our donation goes some way towards doing that, it will be an excellent testimony to all of those who have worked and been members of our Branch”.

We’d like to thank Kerry and all those who will have contributed over the years for the donation.

It’s not too late to join in!

Thanks again for your continued support, the Trustees x

Thank you!

Many, many thanks to runners from Flyers Southend who during this week bought their donations from their monthly 5k handicap to over £1000 since they returned to the Chalkwell tarmac last September following Covid restrictions.

We are so very grateful for your continued support.

This money alone has effectively covered the bulk of the cost of two portable defibrillators that we have recently put into the community.

Many thanks x

New Defibrillator Presentation

Good Friday saw us enjoying the Easter sunshine at Pitsea Running Club’s Crown to Crown event.

We presented them with a portable defibrillator to enhance their medical equipment for future events.

Also pictured is Martin England who in 2018 suffered a heart attack at a running event and was saved by use of a defibrillator.

Don’t forget if your sporting organisation requires similar or other equipment and operate in East Essex, we are always happy to consider grant requests once they are applied for and received.

The next Crown to Crown event is on Wednesday 11th May and can be entered via the link below.

Thanks again to all of our wonderful supporters.

FINISH LINE FUND VIRTUAL RELAY FOR SOUTHEND RUNNING CLUBS – SATURDAY 10TH APRIL

We are pleased to announce that we have had a great response from Southend area running clubs to this event and are looking forward to providing runners with the opportunity to both compete for their clubs and in turn support the charity.

Given the success we had in defibrillator installations in 2020, we thought it appropriate to award the winning club with a portable defibrillator, for use at their runs and events.

Runners will run in half hour slots from 8am to 6pm in a Covid friendly manner with the winning club being determined by a combination of the average distanced travelled and number of completed runs.

Benfleet RC, Flyers Southend, Hockley Trail Runners, Leigh on Sea Striders, Pitsea RC, REDs, Southend AC and South Woodham Runners have all confirmed they will be taking part.

If you need any further information, please contact you club representative.

Good luck to everyone taking part.
